Honokowai Beach Park in the Napili-Kahana-Honokowai is an easy access beach great for families with young kids, catching the sunset, or watching the local fisherman cast their lines. Features of this park include a kids jungle gym, keiki size tidal pool play area and plenty of shaded picnic tables to enjoy a bite to eat from many of the local restaurants and convenience stores.

Safety
Note, there are no lifeguards on duty at Honokowai Beach Park. In Hawaii, all the surf breaks are on reef and not sand; creating exposure to sea urchins, jelly fish, and other ocean inhabitants. The oceans are unpredictable, and with ever changing currents and trade winds, please take safety precautions when entering the water. Low tides can cause reef exposure and jagged rocks. Always venture at your own risk, and when in doubt, stay out.
Activities
A locals beach, activities at Honokowai Beach Park include everything from fishing to dog walking. The outer reefs at the beach provide a shallows area for locals to cast their lines, catching the occasional jack or bonefish. The large grassy area providing a great place to walk your dog, throw a frisbee, practice some morning yoga, or jump in on a pickup soccer game. The shallow stretch of sand makes for a great place to sunbathe, and while the reef along the beach creates a great tidal pool for playing in, the beach is not for recommended for swimming or snorkeling.
Keiki Area
This ocean playground makes the ideal spot for entertaining the keiki (children). The beach features a kids playground with plenty of slides and things to climb on, as well as a set of swings that are sure to entice the guaranteed childish smile. One of the additional great features of the beach is the protected keiki tidepool, which spans the length of the entire beach. The sand lined and protected tidepool provides the perfect place for any young child to feel comfortable, sheltered from the ocean waves.
Features and Conveniences
The beach park is easy access and includes many features and local conveniences. Several picnic tables can be found throughout the park, perfect for the casual place to watch the waves crash and enjoy a meal. The park includes public showers to help try and shed the sand; and public restrooms as well.
The Honokowai area is a populated community with several convenience spots including Bad Ass Coffee and the Honokowai Farmers Market, directly across the street from the beach park; and the Fish Market, Okazuka Deli, and ABC convenience store all within a short walking distance.
Location
From Lahaina / Kaanapali : Take the Honoapiilani Hwy (30) North past the Kaanapali area to the intersection with the Lower Honoapiilani Rd (L. Honoapiilani Rd). Take the left hand turn lane onto the Lower Road and continue roughly half mile down the road. Honokowai Beach Park will be on left hand side, or makai (toward the ocean). Parking is one way, and will want to take your second left once you see the park.
From Napili / Kapalua : Travel South on the Honoapiilani Hwy (30) past the Kahana area until you reach Akahele Rd. Take a right on Akahele Rd, toward the ocean, then a left at the interection with the Lower Honoapiilani Rd. Continue roughly one mile down the road. Honokowai Beach Park will be on your right hand side, or makai (toward the ocean). Parking is one way, and will want to take the first right as you approach the park.
Parking
Parking at Honokowai Beach park is convenient and located adjacent to the park, directly along the Lower Honoapiilani Rd. Spaces are limited however so at peak times, finding a spot may be challenging. If the lot is full, you'll want to avoid the store and apartment lots across the street, for fear of ticket or tow, however there are additional spots located along the lower road. Always park at your own risk; however this public park is generally known to be a safe location.
